COULD THE RAPTURE BE FORETOLD IN THE OLD TESTAMENT?

Written by JR Mayhugh Jr

God’s Word is full of foreshadowing and of course prophecy, which helps me to stay focused on the solid truth that He is Sovereign above all in heaven and earth. Only He could orchestrate the arrangement of words in such a way, illustrating the thread of His DNA from Genesis to Revelation - period.

It's important to understand that prophecies given in the Old Testament (OT), eventually came to fruition either during the New Testament (NT) times, or the thousands of years from then up to today. The best of all in my opinion, is Isaiah 53, which was pronounced 700 years before they eventually changed the course of “History”. Glory Hallelujah!

Other than Enoch, then Elijah, being "raptured" in the OT, are there any other OT scriptures referencing a similar future event?  I believe so, and this OT prophecy is Isaiah 26:17-21. I will show you the connection of NT scripture relating to the "soon to come rapture", so be sure to pay attention to each relationship of OT and NT with their matching colored highlights.

Isaiah 26:17-21

OT (NASB) Isaiah 26:17-18

17 As the pregnant woman approaches the time to give birth,
She writhes and cries out in her labor pains;
This is how we were before You, Lord.

18 We were pregnant, we writhed in labor,
We gave birth, as it seems, only to wind.
We could not accomplish deliverance for the earth,
Nor were inhabitants of the world born.

NT (ESV) Matthew 24:8

All these are but the beginning of the birth pains.

NT (ESV) 1 Thessalonians 5:3

While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.

OT (NASB) Isaiah 26:19

19 Your dead will live; Their corpses will rise.
You who lie in the dust, awake and shout for joy,
For your dew is as the dew of the dawn,
And the earth will give birth to the departed spirits.

NT (NASB) 1 Thessalonians 4:16

For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

OT (NASB) Isaiah 26:20

20 Come, my people, enter your rooms
And close your doors behind you;
- (
Matthew 25:10 below)
Hide for a little while.                              - (
Revelation 3:10 below)
Until indignation runs its course.           - (
Matthew 24:21 below)

NT (NASB) Matthew 25:10

10 But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the groom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast; and the door was shut.

NT (NASB) Revelation 3:10

10 Because you have kept My word of perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of the testing, that hour which is about to come upon the whole world, to test those who live on the earth.

NT (NASB) Matthew 24:21

21 For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will again.

OT (NASB) Isaiah 26:21

21 For behold, the Lord is about to come out from His place
To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their wrongdoing;
   -(
Revelation 19:11 below)
And the earth will reveal her bloodshed.                                     -(
Revelation 19:21 below)
And will no longer cover her slain.

NT (NASB) Revelation 19:11

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war

NT (NASB) Revelation 19:21

21 And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

One thing is for sure - we'll know soon and very soon!

Maranatha!!!
